“The magical brick is talking to us!” shouted Princess Eleanor in awe and wonder. She knew the centuries old building must be the right one, even if there was no household staff to greet them or any sentries anywhere in sight.

“I will see you in a moment.” spoke Lizzy into the intercom, reassuring the guests waiting at her doorstep.

“We will be patient, oh self-aware brick thing! We find you fascinating!” replied Prince Gabriel excitedly.

“Arf! Arf!” uttered Eratosthenes (a wire-haired dachshund), before jumping to lick the intercom speaker.

“Um… Hello there.” said Lizzy in an inquisitive tone as she opened the door to meet her guests, who were dressed just as eccentrically as they talked.

“Um… Um… Um… Uh…” muttered Prince Gabriel, blushing as he tried to think of what to say.

“What brings you here?” asked Lizzy.

“A-A-Are you the magic advisor?” asked Prince Gabriel nervously to Lizzy.

“Well… Yes, I am the magic advisor. My name is Lizzy.” confirmed Lizzy in a confused tone to her strange guests.

“Please forgive my mentor. He can be quite shy and bashful. We both have a very great respect for your family and their work.” related Princess Eleanor to her hostess.

“Um… Uh… Uh… W-W-We… We are aware that your family has studied and preserved occult artifacts for many centuries. We trust that you have the knowledge to help us, and we know you will believe us when we speak the truth about who we are and what has happened to us.” added Prince Gabriel reverently.

“It would be a blessing if you could help us. We will reward you most graciously for your help, Milady Lizzy.” implored Princess Eleanor.

“Who are you, exactly?” asked Lizzy to her guests.

“Um… Um… Um… Uh… Well… Do you recognize this seal, Milady Lizzy?” asked Prince Gabriel, as he showed his signet ring to her.

“It is an owl holding a scroll reading “Scientia est lux lucis”, over a Teutonic Order cross in the background. I believe I have seen that heraldic device before.” confirmed Lizzy to her guests once more.

“He is Prince Gabriel von Roggen und Bernstein, and I am his student and best friend Princess Eleanor, and this is Eratosthenes! Perhaps you have heard of us?” asked Princess Eleanor chirpily.

“Ruff!” exclaimed Eratosthenes excitedly, wagging his tail.

“Actually, I have heard of you two. Your writings and research speak for themselves, and your travels are legendary to this day. I would expect that two individuals of such a high caliber would know better than to dabble in something as dangerous and troublesome as time travel. Then again, you always had a reputation for allowing your curiosity to get the best of you, and apparently it has gotten the best of you yet again.” said Lizzy, clearly slightly irked by the quirkiness of her Renaissance counterparts.

“Forgive us, Milady Lizzy. We both believe that there is not any knowledge that can be more dangerous than ignorance. It was an accident.” plead Princess Eleanor.

“Y-Y-Yes. You see… You see, we purchased a pocket watch when we arrived in Stockholm in the year of our Lord 1535, because it is… err… it was a fascinating new technology. When we finished winding it up, w-w-we realized it does not tell us the time. It… It… It controls time! Suddenly it has sent us almost half a thousand years hence from when we came! It… It… It is terrifying! We want to go home very badly, but we cannot!” told Prince Gabriel, as tears began to form in his big bespectacled eyes.

“We cannot return home because the pocket watch was stolen from us!” explained Princess Eleanor.

“Yip! Yip! Yip!” whined Eratosthenes.

“Do not worry. You will be alright. I am sure I can help you find a way to get back to your own time period. Please come inside and sit down.” said Lizzy in a comforting tone to her guests. She guided them through the halls and to her library.

“Stay here. You may read any of the books you want to, but do not touch any of the artifacts. I will see if I can find some less puffy and frilly clothing for you to wear so you do not stick out like a sore thumb if we have to go outside again.” told Lizzy to her guests.

The archaic fashion sense of her guests reminded Lizzy of someone else who had been missing for quite some time. What mischief might have that purple and pink nuisance and her fluffy masked companions gotten involved in that had kept them completely occupied for several days now? She was not overly concerned, as it was the first time in a very long time she had not had to deal with their silly shenanigans. Yet a part of her felt a bit guilty. What if something awful had happened to them and she never cared to notice?

Lizzy then continued to the kitchen, where Ghosty was watching sitcom reruns on television.

“Ghosty, we already own every season of this show on DVD. It is my turn to choose a program to watch.” said Lizzy to Ghosty, pressing a button on the remote control to change the channel to a local news network.

To be continued???
This is a crossover/ fanfic of my friend's (we are friends, right?) utterly hilarious webcomic that you should definitely check out called "Magic Advisor", in which she has agreed to allow me to include my own original characters from my ongoing unfinished swashbuckling fantasy adventure story set during the Renaissance.

This is so good!!!! I just love it! Our characters work so well together. :) I love how Lizzy is like "wtf?" at first before they explain themselves some more. XD
So great how they call Lizzy "Milady Lizzy". No wonder she is a bit thrown off by meeting them... You really make the reader feel the contrast between the different time periods in a great way :)
Oh and I can just imagine who has stolen that pocket watch ;) :D
I can't wait for more! (And I really hope there will be more) I feel like this could really become an amazing story. This first part is just wonderful! :)
Can I share this in my journal and at my homepage and social media? I really would like to share it! It is just so good :)

And thank you for your wonderful words about my comic :) I am so happy you wanted to write about my characters :D

Yay! Thank you! :D I really enjoy it! It has so many great details I could go on about for a long time.
Like Ghosty watching sit coms. That really would be his favourite kind of tv shows XD You are such a great writer and I hope you will write more for this story. :) If you want to and have inspiration of course :)
For some reason, I always thought Ghosty's most preferred genres of television would be sitcoms and cartoons.

Yes, Ghosty is very "happy go lucky" and easy going so he would enjoy funny and lighthearted tv shows :D
